EUR Castellaccio (2012)

Public space design project, in collaboration with Studio Ferretti - Marcelloni
Rome, Italy

The project was born from the need of creating a continuous open spaces system, working as a connection between the buildings of the new centrality of EUR Castellaccio in Rome, and making it more accessible from the exterior. Most of the buildings have business function, so the fruition of the public spaces system must be guaranteed not only from the surrounding districts, but from the whole city, and it must have an independent and strong attraction capability, especially during the weekends, when the offices will be closed. So we arrived to a four-squares system, each of them with its characteristics and attractions: the first with its flowering dunes and its fountain, the second with its "forest" and the colored benches, the third with its groves and the fourth with its geometrical design that frames flowerbed seats, play and fitness areas.
